Section 36-32-3 Officers; powers and duties; compensation; expenditures and revenues; education and training; facilities. (a) The commission shall elect a chairman and a vice-chairman from among its members at the first regular quarterly meeting of the calendar year. (b) The commission may do all of the following: (1) Organize the Alabama Fire College by appointing an executive director, assistant directors, and such officers as the interest of the Alabama Fire College may require. (a) There is hereby created a State Ethics Commission composed of five members, each of whom shall be a fair, equitable citizen of this state and of high moral character and ability. Section 36-25A-5.1 Participation by electronic communications. (a) Except as provided in subsection (d), members of a governmental body as defined in Section 36-25A-2, that is comprised of members from two or more counties, may participate in a meeting of that governmental body by means of telephone conference, video conference, or other similar communications equipment which allows all persons participating in the meeting to hear each other at the same time. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation.
