Section 12-15-301 Definitions. For purposes of this article, the following words and phrases
shall have the following meanings: (1) ABANDONMENT. A voluntary and intentional relinquishment
of the custody of a child by a parent, or a withholding from the child, without good cause
or excuse, by the parent, of his or her presence, care, love, protection, maintenance, or
the opportunity for the display of filial affection, or the failure to claim the rights of
a parent, or failure to perform the duties of a parent. (2) AGE APPROPRIATE or DEVELOPMENTALLY
APPROPRIATE. Activities or items that are generally accepted as suitable for children of the
same chronological age or level of maturity or that are determined to be developmentally appropriate

Section 22-27-3 Authority of local governing bodies as waste collections and disposal; household
exemptions; state regulatory program. (a) Generally. (1) The county commission or municipal
governing body may, and is hereby authorized to, make available to the general public collection
and disposal facilities for solid wastes in a manner acceptable to the department. The county

adopted and enacted into law by the State of Alabama: Multistate Tax Compact Article I. Purposes.

of quality public charter school applications, every local school board, in its role as public

Section 12-2-6 Performance of duties of Chief Justice in event of extended absence from court
or disability thereof. Whenever the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama shall, because
of illness or otherwise, be disabled from actively performing his duties as chief justice
or those ex officio duties imposed upon him by law or shall be absent from the court for a
period of 30 days or longer, then, in either event, the duties so imposed upon him shall be
performed by the available associate justice of the Supreme Court in order of seniority based
upon continuous length of service on the court, and such associate justice of the Supreme
