(a) The Department of Industrial Relations shall establish an Ombudsman Program to assist injured or disabled employees, persons claiming death benefits, employers, and other persons in protecting their rights and obtaining information available under the Workers' Compensation Law. Section 45-49-120.07 Personnel director. The board shall elect and fix the salary of the director who shall hold office at the will of the board. The board shall prescribe qualifications as to residence, education, and experience as may be necessary in its opinion to fill the position of director. Any justice of the Supreme Court, judge of the Court of Civil Appeals, judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, circuit judge, or district judge who has 24 years of creditable service in the Judicial Retirement Fund of Alabama may elect to purchase credit in the Judicial Retirement Fund of Alabama for up to one additional year.
