Section 12-15-133 Filing and inspection of records. (a) The following records, reports, and information acquired or generated in juvenile courts concerning children shall be confidential and shall not be released to any person, department, agency, or entity, except as provided elsewhere in this section: (1) Juvenile legal files (including formal documents as petitions, notices, motions, legal memoranda, orders, and decrees). (2) Social records, including but not limited to: a. Records of juvenile probation officers. b. Records of the Department of Human Resources. c. Records of the Department of Youth Services. d. Effective October 1, 1997, all the assets of the retirement system shall be credited according to the purpose for which they are held among three funds, namely: The Annuity Savings Fund, the Pension Accumulation Fund, and the Expense Fund. (a) The director may open to any person for inspection, copying, and mechanical reproduction, during the department's regular business hours, criminal history information on any individual, if the individual has given written permission for the release of the information to the requester and if the opening of the information is not forbidden by order of any court of competent jurisdiction or by federal law. Any person requesting criminal history information from the department must present to the department, along with the request, a copy of the required written permission.
