Section 16-25-11.4 Purchase of credit for prior service rendered as full-time employee in office of clerk of circuit court or with Alabama State Employees Association. (a) Any acting and contributing member of the Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama may elect to purchase credit for prior service rendered as a full-time employee in the office of a clerk of the circuit court in the State of Alabama or as a full-time employee with the Alabama State Employees Association provided the member complies with the following conditions prescribed in this section. (b) Any employee electing to purchase credit under subsection (a) of this section shall pay to the Secretary-Treasurer of the Teachers' Retirement System within one year after October 1, 1995, a lump sum payment equal to a percentage of the current annual salary or final average compensation, whichever is greater, of the member. Any person now serving as an elected superintendent of education in this state may become a member of the Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama within 90 days after the ratification of an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama 1901 allowing elected superintendents of education to participate in the Teachers' Retirement System, subject to such rules and regulations as may be promulgated by the Board of Control of said system.
