Section 10A-1-1.03 Definitions. As used in this title, unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms mean: (1) AFFILIATE. A person who controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with another person. An affiliate of an individual includes the spouse, or a parent or sibling thereof, of the individual, or a child, grandchild, sibling, parent, or spouse of any thereof, of the individual, or an individual having the same home as the individual, or a trust or estate of which an individual specified in this sentence is a substantial beneficiary; a trust, estate, incompetent, conservatee, protected person, or minor of which the individual is a fiduciary; or an entity of which the individual is director, general partner, agent, employee or the governing authority or member of the governing authority. Section 12-1-14.2 Senior judge status. (a) Any circuit court judge or district court judge who has served for 10 or more years in any combination of service as a judge of the circuit court or district court in this state and who retires pursuant to Chapter 18 of this title, may be appointed as a senior judge. A circuit court judge or district court judge who retires because of a disability may not be appointed as a senior judge. Section 12-18-58 Judges' retirement benefits. The annual retirement benefit payable to a judge retiring pursuant to subdivisions (2) through (5) of subsection (a) of Section 12-18-55 shall be 75 percent of the salary payable by the state to district judges on the date such judge retires.
