Section 45-44-233 Law enforcement substation program. (a) The Sheriff of Macon County, Alabama, is hereby authorized to make provisions for a law enforcement substation program throughout the county to the extent he or she deems necessary for improved law enforcement efforts. In order to foster and encourage the support of private citizens for such program, there is hereby established the Sheriff's Department Substation Trust Fund to which private citizens may make supportive contributions. The county sheriff shall serve as trustee for such fund and shall be held accountable to the county commission and the Macon County legislative delegation for all expenditures made from such fund. (a) All district attorney's fees taxed as costs and collected in all criminal cases in Madison County and the Twenty-third Judicial Circuit shall be paid into a separate fund in a depository designated by the district attorney and shall be known as the District Attorney's Fund. (a) An animal control officer or law enforcement officer of Mobile County shall investigate any incidents involving any dog reported to be dangerous or a nuisance in the unincorporated areas of Mobile County. (b) If a dog, which is unowned and has been reported to be dangerous, bites a person, the dog may be quarantined and destroyed pursuant to subsection of Section 3-7A-9.
