Section 12-15-409 Role of attorney as advocate; designation of facilities. (a) An attorney
representing the state, any county, or municipality or the Department of Youth Services or
the Department of Human Resources or an attorney representing the person or persons filing
a petition to have a minor or child committed may serve as the advocate in support of the
petition to commit in all matters regarding the petition. (b) At the final hearing upon a
petition seeking to commit a minor or child to the custody of the department on the basis
that the minor or child is mentally ill, the juvenile court may grant the petition if clear
and convincing evidence proves all of the following: (1) That the minor or child sought to
be committed is mentally ill. (2) That, as a consequence of the mental illness, the minor
or child poses a real and present threat of substantial harm to himself, herself, or to others.

Section 9-16-79 Hearings and appeals procedure. Procedures for hearings and appeals under this
article shall be made as herein provided and in accordance with such general rules and regulations
as the regulatory authority may prescribe. These procedures shall take precedence over the
Alabama Administrative Procedure Act, which shall in no respect apply to proceedings arising

Section 30-2-56 Interim alimony. (a)(1) In an action for divorce, legal separation, or annulment,
the court may award either spouse interim alimony based upon a showing of all of the following:
a. The spouse maintains the validity of the marriage. b. The spouse needs interim alimony,
after taking into consideration any other financial contributions provided by the other spouse
pursuant to other interim orders of the court. c. The other spouse has the ability to pay
interim alimony. (2) An award under subdivision (1) may be made retroactive to the date of

Section 30-3B-305 Registration of child custody determination. (a) A child custody determination
issued by a court of another state may be registered in this state, with or without a simultaneous
request for enforcement, by sending to the appropriate court in this state: (1) A letter or

the classified service, whenever he or she considers the good of the service and the welfare
of the city will be best served thereby, by making and filing in his or her office an order
