Section 12-14-31 Powers generally; designation of other municipal officers to approve appearance
and appeal bonds. (a) A municipal judge may administer oaths, compel the attendance of witnesses
and compel the production of books and papers, punish by fine not exceeding $50.00 and/or
imprisonment not exceeding five days any person found and adjudged to be in contempt of court
and shall have power coextensive with the jurisdiction of the district court to issue writs
and other process and to approve and declare bonds forfeited. In contempt of court cases brought
pursuant to Section 12-19-311(c) and (d), a municipal judge may punish by a fine not exceeding

Section 27-2-32 Hearings - Appeals. (a) An appeal from the commissioner shall be taken only
from an order on hearing, or as to a matter on which the commissioner has refused or failed
to hold a hearing after demand therefor under Section 27-2-28 or as to a matter as to which

injunction, or other appropriate proceedings. The employee, the appointing authority, or the

Section 12-14-71 Appeals from judgments of circuit courts and proceedings thereon. From the
judgment of the circuit court, the municipality, in a case holding invalid an ordinance, or
the defendant in any case, may appeal to the court of criminal appeals in like manner as in
cases of appeals for convictions of violation of the criminal laws of the state. If the appeal
