Section 11-47-210 Definitions. When used in this article, unless the context plainly
indicates otherwise, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively
ascribed to them by this section: (1) APPLICANT. An individual who files a written
application with the governing body of any county or municipality in accordance with Section
11-47-214. (2) AUTHORITY. A public corporation organized under this article for the purposes,
with the powers, and subject to the restrictions set forth in this article. (3) AUTHORIZING
COUNTY. With respect to an authority, any county which has a governing body that has made
findings and determinations of facts pertaining to the organization of the authority in accordance
with Section 11-47-214. (4) AUTHORIZING MUNICIPALITY. With respect to an authority,

meaning clearly appears in the context, the following terms and others evidently intended
as the equivalent thereof, shall be given the following respective interpretations: (1) APPLICANT.

Section 22-27-3 Authority of local governing bodies as waste collections and disposal;
household exemptions; state regulatory program. (a) Generally. (1) The county commission or
municipal governing body may, and is hereby authorized to, make available to the general public
collection and disposal facilities for solid wastes in a manner acceptable to the department.

Section 11-32-6 Board of directors. (a) Each authority shall be governed by a board.
All powers of the authority shall be exercised by or under the authority of, and the business
and affairs of the authority shall be managed under the direction of, the board or pursuant

Section 11-99B-5 Authorization and procedure for amendment of certificate of incorporation.
(a) The certificate of incorporation of any district may at any time and from time to time
be amended in the manner provided in this section. (b)(1) The board shall first adopt
