Section 11-47-210 Definitions. When used in this article, unless the context plainly indicates otherwise, the following words and phrases shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: (1) APPLICANT. An individual who files a written application with the governing body of any county or municipality in accordance with Section 11-47-214. (2) AUTHORITY. A public corporation organized under this article for the purposes, with the powers, and subject to the restrictions set forth in this article. (3) AUTHORIZING COUNTY. Section 11-92B-7 Board of directors. (a) The authority shall operate under the direction of a board of directors which shall consist of voting members selected as follows: (1) One member appointed by the Governor. (2) Five members appointed by the governing body of each municipality whose corporate limits lie in whole or in part within the operational area of the authority. Each district incorporated under this article shall have a board of directors of not less than three members, and the members shall elect a chairman of the board.
