Section 45-35-244.03 Levy of excise tax. For the period of time provided for herein: (1) An excise tax is hereby imposed on the storage, use, or other consumption in the county of tangible personal property, not including materials and supplies bought for use in fulfilling a contract for the painting, repairing, or reconditioning of vessels, barges, ships, and other watercraft of more than 50 tons burden, purchased at retail for storage, use, or other consumption in the county, except as provided in subdivisions (2), (3), and (4), at the rate of one percent of the sales price of such property. Section 13A-8-33 Law enforcement officers authorized to place hold on certain sales of metals. (a)(1) Whenever a law enforcement officer has reasonable suspicion to believe that any item of metal property in the possession of a secondary metals recycler has been stolen, the law enforcement officer, may issue a hold notice to the secondary metals recycler. If a lienholder makes a timely response to a notice of abandoned manufactured dwelling, as provided for in Section 35-12A-4, and so requests, a manufactured dwelling community owner shall not sell the manufactured dwelling for a period of 12 months. Section 40-10-28 Disposition of excess arising from sale. (a)(1) The excess arising from the sale of any real estate remaining after paying the amount of the decree of sale, including costs and expenses subsequently accruing, shall be paid over to a person or entity who has redeemed the property as authorized in Section 40-10-120 or any other provisions of Alabama law authorizing redemption from a tax sale, provided proof that the person or entity requesting payment of the excess has properly redeemed the property is presented to the county commission within three years after the tax sale has occurred.
