Section 11-97-8 Powers of corporation; location of facilities of corporation. (a) Every
corporation shall have all of the powers necessary and convenient to carry out and effectuate
the purposes and provisions of this chapter, including (without limiting the generality of
the foregoing) the following powers: (1) To have succession in its corporate name for the
duration of time (which may be in perpetuity, subject to the provisions of Section
11-97-22 hereof) specified in its certificate of incorporation; (2) To sue and be sued in
its own name in civil suits and actions and to defend suits against it; (3) To adopt and make
use of a corporate seal and to alter the same at pleasure; (4) To adopt, alter, and repeal

Section 16-18A-4 Powers and duties. The purpose of the authority shall be to assist
institutions for higher education in the construction, financing and refinancing of the projects.
The exercise by the authority of the powers conferred by this chapter shall be deemed and
held to be the performance of an essential public function. For the purpose of this chapter,

Section 22-21-311 Definitions. (a) The following words and phrases used in this article,
and others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, shall, in the absence of clear implication
herein otherwise, be given the following respective interpretations herein: (1) APPLICANT.

Section 33-2-8 General provisions relative to inland waterways improvement bonds and
temporary loans. In order to provide funds for the purposes herein authorized, the Governor
is hereby empowered to execute, with the concurrence of the director of state docks, and to
sell the state's bonds in such amounts, not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of $3,000,000.00
as may be necessary for said purposes, all under and subject to the following provisions:
