Section 11-11B-1 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following words and terms shall have the following respective meanings: (1) CONDITIONS OF A GRANT. The terms and conditions upon which a grant is made by a donor. (2) COUNTY. Any county of the state. (3) DONOR. The United States of America, or the state, or any county in the state or any municipality or any department, division, board, bureau, institution or agency of any of the foregoing, or any person, firm or corporation, institution, foundation or other agency or any combination of any two or more such donors. (4) GOVERNING BODY. The county commission, board of directors or other group or body which governs, controls or makes decisions for a grantee. (5) GRANT. Any gift, grant, appropriation, donation, or advance by any donor, whether absolute or conditional, for any purpose. (6) GRANTEE. Section 34-13-23 Officers; rulemaking authority; compensation; executive director; disposition of funds. (a)(1) The board appointed under this chapter and each successor thereto is authorized to select from its own membership a chair and to adopt and promulgate such rules and regulations for the transaction of its business and for the betterment and promotion of the standards of service and practice to be followed in the funeral service profession in the State of Alabama as the board may deem expedient and consistent with the laws of this state and for the public good. Section 11-94-15 Liability of authorizing subdivisions upon bonds, obligations and agreements of authority; other actions by authorizing subdivisions to attain objectives of chapter. Section 22-21-50 Proceedings to establish. (a) Any one or more local governing bodies located in the same or contiguous counties, within a zone determined by the State Board of Health as a zone for public hospitals, may act to establish a hospital association, a body corporate and politic. Before taking action to establish a hospital association, each local governing body involved shall give notice of the time, place and purpose of a public hearing at which all residents and taxpayers of the local political subdivision shall be given an opportunity to be heard. Such notice by the local governing body shall be given by publishing or posting a notice at least 10 days preceding the day on which the hearing is to be held.
