Section 45-16A-20.01 Authority to operate cable, telecommunications, etc., systems. In addition to all other power, rights, and authority heretofore granted by law, the City of Elba in Coffee County and municipal instrumentalities of the City of Elba may acquire, establish, purchase, construct, maintain, enlarge, extend, lease, improve, and operate cable systems, telecommunications equipment and telecommunications systems, and furnish cable service, interactive computer service, and Internet access and other Internet services and telecommunications service, or any combination thereof, to the inhabitants of the municipality and surrounding territory. Section 45-25-243 Lodging tax levied. (a) In DeKalb County, in addition to all other taxes imposed by law, there is levied a privilege or license tax in the amount herein prescribed against every person within the county engaging in the business of renting or furnishing a room or rooms, lodging or accommodations, to a transient in a hotel, motel, inn, condominium, house, tourist court, or another place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished to transients for a consideration.
