Section 11-51-16 Sales of property for payment of taxes, etc., generally - Disposition of proceeds. All proceeds arising from sales for taxes or assessments shall be paid over by the register or clerk of the court, after deducting the costs and expenses of such civil action, to the treasurer of the city or town who shall hold for the owner, upon his official bond, the surplus after deducting the amounts due the city or town.
