Section 11-49A-2 Definitions. The following words and phrases used in this chapter, and others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, shall, in the absence of clear implication herein otherwise, be given the following respective interpretations herein: (1) APPLICANT. A natural person who files a written application with the governing body of any municipality to which this chapter applies all in accordance with the provisions of Section 11-49A-4. (2) AUTHORITY. A public corporation organized pursuant to the provisions of this chapter. (3) AUTHORIZING MUNICIPALITY. Any municipality the governing body of which shall have adopted an authorizing resolution. (4) AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION. Section 11-65-18 Application for operator's license. Depending upon the licensing authority granted a commission by elections held pursuant to subsection (a) or (b) of Section 11-65-4, a commission shall be empowered to grant operator's licenses for horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering thereon or for greyhound racing and pari-mutuel wagering thereon. Section 34-11-9 Practice by firms. (a)(1) A firm that practices or offers to practice engineering or land surveying is required to obtain a certificate of authorization from the board in accordance with rules adopted by the board. (2) An entity that performs engineering services or land surveying services for itself, or for a parent or subsidiary, is not required to have a certificate of authorization. (3) A firm may not be relieved of responsibility for the conduct or acts of its agents, employees, officers, or partners by reason of its compliance with this section.
