Section 11-48-8 Hearing upon objections as to proposed improvement; amendment, modification,
rescission, etc., of ordinance or resolution; actions ratified and confirmed where prior to
ordinance, resolution or hearing. (a) At the meeting, to be held as provided for as specified
in Section 11-48-6, or at a place and time to which the same may be adjourned, all persons
whose property may be affected by the proposed improvement may appear in person or by attorney
or by petition and object or protest against said improvement, the material to be used or
the alternative types of material or any of them from which selection is later to be made,
if any, and the manner of making the same, and said council shall consider such objection
and protest and may confirm, amend, modify, or rescind the original ordinance or resolution.

Section 37-5-1 Definitions. Unless the context otherwise requires, the following terms, when
used in this chapter, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:

Section 11-99-4 Creation of tax increment districts and approval of project plans. In order
to exercise its powers under this chapter, a public entity shall take the following steps:
(1) The local governing body shall hold a public hearing at which all interested parties are
afforded a reasonable opportunity to express their views on the concept of tax increment financing,
on the proposed creation of a tax increment district and its proposed boundaries, and its
benefits to the public entity. Notice of the hearing shall be published in a newspaper of
general circulation in either the county or in the city, as the case may be, in which the
proposed tax increment district is to be located with such notice to be published at least
twice in the 15-day period immediately preceding the date of the hearing. Prior to publication,

Section 16-8-17 Consolidation of schools - County and city systems. (a) Whenever a county board
of education and the city board or boards of education in the county shall deem it advisable
to consolidate the administration of their respective systems under the county board of education
