by ordinance designate as a historic preservation district any section within the corporate
limits of the City of Athens, which section such governing body may determine possesses such
historic significance by reason of antiquity, architecture, historic importance of persons

Section 11-47-90 Authorization for conduct by municipality; appointment, oath, and duties of
enumerators. Municipal corporations may by ordinance require a census to be taken of the inhabitants
residing within the corporate limits of such municipality. Such census shall be taken by enumerators,

Section 45-45-70 Adoption of laws and codes; inspectors; fees. (a) In Madison County, the county
commission shall adopt building laws and codes by ordinance which shall apply to all commercial
or industrial improvements in the county. The building laws and codes of the county commission
