Section 11-46-59 Offenses of mayor and other executive officers. (a) Any mayor or other chief executive officer of a municipality who willfully fails to give notice of any municipal election as required in this article shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $500.00 and may also be imprisoned in the county jail or sentenced to hard labor for the county for not more than six months. (b) Any mayor or other chief executive officer of a municipality who knowingly puts on the list of qualified electors for a municipal election the name of any person who is not registered, as shown by the records in the probate office of the county in which such municipality lies, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, on conviction, must be fined not less than $100.00.
