Section 37-14-2 Definitions. As used in this article, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise; (1) ELECTRIC SUPPLIER. Any municipality, municipally-owned utility or other governmental entity, any cooperative, corporation, person, firm, association or other entity engaged in the business of supplying electric service at retail; provided, however, that a university, college or United States military base which distributes electricity shall not be deemed an electric supplier for the purpose of this article. (2) ELECTRIC SERVICE AT RETAIL and RETAIL ELECTRIC SERVICE. Section 28-3-190 Levy of tax; collection; disposition of proceeds by localities; enforcement and administration; penalties; exclusive nature of tax. (a) Levy. (a) Except as herein otherwise provided, all of the provisions of this chapter shall be applicable to so much of the estates of nonresident decedents as is subject to estate tax under the act of Congress in effect at the time of the death of decedent as consists of real estate or tangible personal property located within this state or other items of property or interest therein lawfully subject to the imposition of an estate tax by the State of Alabama.
