Section 45-8A-130.04 Civil Service Board - Creation; composition. (a) There is hereby created the Civil Service Board of the City of Weaver, which shall be composed of three members, appointed by the Calhoun County Legislative Delegation. The following groups shall each submit the names of two nominees to the legislative delegation: (1) Employees of the public works department. (2) Employees of the police department. (3) The mayor and city council. (b) The legislative delegation shall appoint one member from the nominees submitted by each group, and each appointee shall serve for terms of six years or until his or her successor is appointed. No person shall be appointed to the board who is not a resident and qualified elector of the City of Weaver and over the age of 21 years. Neither the council nor any of its members shall direct or request the appointment of any person to, or his or her removal from, office or position by the mayor or by any of his or her subordinates, or in any manner take part in the appointment or removal of officers and employees in the administrative service of the city.
