Section 11-49A-7 Organization of authority; board of directors; election; terms; vacancies; qualifications; expenses and compensation; removal. Each authority shall be governed by a board of directors. All powers of the authority shall be exercised by the board or pursuant to its authorization. The board shall consist of six directors. Each director shall be elected by the governing body of the authorizing municipality. The initial term of office of three of the directors elected by the governing body of the authorizing municipality shall begin immediately upon their election and shall end at 12:01 A.M., on the second anniversary date of the filing for record of the certificate of incorporation of the authority. Section 16-9-8 Taking office on January 1 following election; procedure where successful candidate dies or resigns prior to taking office. (a) In counties in which the county superintendent of education is elected by popular vote, the successful candidate shall take office on January 1 following the date of election.
