Section 11-44E-2 Authority to adopt mayor/commission/city manager form of government; ordinance for election of commissioners. At any time upon passage of this chapter and said chapter becoming law, any Class 5 municipality may adopt the mayor/commission/city manager form of government by adopting an ordinance by a majority vote of the members of that governing body adopting the mayor/commission/city manager form of government. Within 30 days of the adoption of the ordinance adopting the mayor/commission/city manager form of government, members of that governing body shall adopt a second ordinance for the election of commissioners from six single-member districts with the district boundaries established therein. The Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact is hereby enacted into law and entered into with all other jurisdictions legally joining therein in form substantially as follows: SECTION 1. PURPOSE In order to protect the public through verification of competency and ensure accountability for patient care related activities all states license emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, such as emergency medical technicians (EMTs), advanced EMTs and paramedics. This Compact is intended to facilitate the day to day movement of EMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their EMS duties as assigned by an appropriate authority and authorize state EMS offices to afford immediate legal recognition to EMS personnel licensed in a member state. Any municipal corporation which adopts the council-manager form of government shall continue its existence as a body corporate without change in the name of the municipal corporation.
