Section 11-43A-50 Oath or affirmation of councilman, officers, and employees. Every councilman, officer and employee of the municipality shall, before entering upon the duties of his office, take and subscribe to the following oath or affirmation, to be filed and kept in the office of the city clerk: "I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I am eligible for the office of _____ and will execute the duties of same according to the best of my ability, and that I will support the Constitutions and will obey the laws of the United States and of the State of Alabama; that I will, in all respects, observe the provisions of the ordinances of the City of _____, and will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of _____." Section 11-43A-18 Appointment of city manager; temporary acting city manager; removal; dealings with administrative service. The council, by a majority vote of the whole qualified membership of the council, shall appoint a city manager, who shall be an officer of the city, and shall have the powers to perform the duties in this article provided. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation. By establishing an independent Alabama Tax Tribunal within the executive branch of government, this chapter provides taxpayers with a means of resolving controversies that insures both the appearance and the reality of due process and fundamental fairness.
