Section 11-43-185 Agreements for furnishing by State Personnel Department of services and facilities for administration of merit systems for law enforcement officers of municipalities - Classification of municipal law enforcement officers and applicability of state Merit System rules and regulations. Each law enforcement officer in the civil service of any municipality at the time such municipality enters into such an agreement with the state Director of Personnel under the provisions of this article shall, upon the effective date of such agreement, be classified to the nearest classification of their present work assignment and shall thereafter be governed by the state Merit System rules and regulations, the same as any other law enforcement officer in the service of the state. (a) For the purposes of this article, the term "legacy agency" means an existing agency, department, or division that is being reorganized or abolished under this article.
