Section 16-6F-6 Authorization of establishment; Alabama Public Charter School Commission;
registration requirements; powers and duties of authorizers. (a) Eligible authorizing entities.
(1) A public charter school shall not be established in this state unless its establishment
is authorized by this section. No governmental entity or other entity, other than an
entity expressly granted chartering authority as set forth in this section, may assume
any authorizing function or duty in any form. The following entities shall be authorizers
of public charter schools: a. A local school board, for chartering of schools within the boundaries
of the school system under its jurisdiction, pursuant to state law. b. The Alabama Public

Section 36-27-43 Credit for prior service - School bus driver, mechanic or maintenance
worker. Any person who is presently a regular employee of the State of Alabama and is covered
or eligible to be covered under the state Employees' Retirement System and who, prior to such
regular employment was employed as a fully budgeted school bus driver (not a student), mechanic
or maintenance worker by any county or city board of education or the governing board of any
public school in Alabama regardless of the source from which and the manner in which his salary
was paid, shall be entitled to receive credit for all service in such capacity rendered by

Section 41-14A-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following words and terms
