Section 36-25A-2 Definitions. As used in and for determining the applicability of this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings solely for the purposes of this chapter: (1) DELIBERATION. An exchange of information or ideas among a quorum of members of a subcommittee, committee, or full governmental body intended to arrive at or influence a decision as to how any members of the subcommittee, committee, or full governmental body should vote on a specific matter that, at the time of the exchange, the participating members expect to come before the subcommittee, committee, or full body immediately following the discussion or at a later time. (2) EXECUTIVE SESSION. That portion of a meeting of a subcommittee, committee, or full governmental body from which the public is excluded for one or more of the reasons prescribed in Section 36-25A-7(a). Section 45-2-234.09 Appeals; subpoenas; hearing. (a) A classified employee, other than an appointed official, shall have the right to appeal any disciplinary action taken against him or her. An employee on probationary status shall not have that right unless the employee had permanent status in some other position at the time of appointment to the probationary position. An employee, other than an appointed official, desiring to appeal any disciplinary action directed against him or her shall first exhaust any administrative remedy as provided by policy of the sheriff's personnel system. Upon exhausting any administrative remedy, the employee shall then file his or her appeal in writing with the personnel officer within seven calendar days of the last final administrative action on the disciplinary action, and shall request a hearing before the personnel appeals board. Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR.
