Section 45-2-221.10 Historic development commission. A historic development commission with the following membership, duties, and powers may be created by the county commission. (a) The commission shall be composed of no less than 11 members who shall be selected by the county commission in such a manner as to serve overlapping terms. Except for the first members, their terms shall be four years. (b) The commission shall operate under a constitution as adopted by the commission and approved by the county commission. (a) The County Commission of Jefferson County shall have authority, after notice as provided herein, to move or demolish buildings and structures, or parts of buildings and structures, party walls, and foundations when the same are found by the county commission to be unsafe to the extent of being a public nuisance from any cause.
