Section 41-8A-1 Definitions. (a) The following words, when used in this chapter, shall have the meanings ascribed to them below, unless the context clearly indicates a different meaning: (1) LAW ENFORCEMENT and CRIMINAL JUSTICE. Any activity pertaining to crime prevention, control or reduction or enforcement of the criminal law, including, but not limited to, police efforts to prevent, control or reduce crime or to apprehend criminals, activities of courts having criminal jurisdiction and related agencies (including prosecutorial and defender services), activities of corrections, probation or parole authorities and programs relating to the prevention, control or reduction of juvenile delinquency or alcoholism, narcotic and drug addiction. Section 21-7-1 Declaration of policy; definitions. (a) It is the policy of this state to encourage and enable the blind, the visually impaired, and the physically disabled to participate fully in the social and economic life of the state and to engage in meaningful employment. (a) Commencing on May 21, 2009, any security officer, armed security officer, or contract security company providing private security services in this state shall apply to the board for a license or certification.
