Section 27-29-1 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, unless otherwise stated, the following terms shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: (1) AFFILIATE. The term shall include an affiliate of, or person affiliated with, a specific person, and shall mean a person that directly, or indirectly through one or more intermediaries, controls, or is controlled by, or is under common control with, the person specified. (2) COMMISSIONER. The Commissioner of Insurance, his or her deputies, or the Insurance Department as appropriate. (3) CONTROL. Section 41-7A-43 Rebates for qualified production companies. (a) Beginning January 1, 2009, a qualified production company shall be entitled to a rebate for production expenditures, as defined in subdivision (7) of Section 41-7A-42, related to a state-certified production. Section 27-44-9 Assessments. (a) For the purpose of providing the funds necessary to carry out the powers and duties of the association, the board of directors shall assess the member insurers, separately for each account, at such time and for such amounts as the board finds necessary.
