Section 45-39-221.02 Board of directors. (a) The tourism board shall have a board of directors composed of five directors, two of whom shall be elected by the governing body of the City of Florence, two of whom shall be elected by the governing body of the county, and one of whom shall be elected jointly by the governing body of the City of Florence and the governing body of the county. Each director shall be 21 years of age or older and shall be a resident and qualified elector of the county. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation.
