Section 22-5B-3 Definitions. When used in this chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings: (1) ADULT WITH SPECIAL NEED. A person 19 years of age or older who requires care or supervision to meet the person's basic needs or prevent physical self-injury or injury to others, or avoid placement in an institutional facility. (2) AGING AND DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTER. An entity that provides a coordinated system for providing information on long-term care programs and options, personal counseling, and consumer access to publicly support long-term care programs. (3) CHILD WITH SPECIAL NEED. A person under age 19 who requires care or supervision beyond that required for children generally to meet the child's basic needs or prevent physical injury to self or others. (4) ELIGIBLE STATE AGENCY. Section 24-9-6 Acquisition of tax delinquent properties. (a) The authority, at such times as it deems to be appropriate, may submit a written request to the Land Commissioner of the Alabama Department of Revenue for the transfer of the state's interest in certain properties to the authority. Upon receipt of such request, the Land Commissioner shall issue a tax deed conveying the state's interest in the property to the authority. The authority shall not be required to pay the amount deemed to have been bid to cover delinquent taxes or any other amount in order to obtain the tax deed. Section 27-21A-2 Establishment of health maintenance organizations. (a) Notwithstanding any law of this state to the contrary, any person may apply to the commissioner for and obtain a certificate of authority to establish and operate a health maintenance organization in compliance with this chapter. Section 38-4-14 Limitations on use of public assistance benefits. (a) For the purposes of this section, the term public assistance benefits means money or property provided directly or indirectly to eligible persons through programs of the federal government, the state, or any political subdivision thereof, and administered by the Alabama Department of Human Resources. (b)(1) A recipient of public assistance benefits may not use any portion of the benefits for the purchase of any alcoholic beverage, tobacco product, or lottery ticket.
