Section 11-97-2 Definitions. The following words and phrases used in this chapter, and others evidently intended as the equivalent thereof, shall, in the absence of a clear implication herein otherwise, be given the following respective interpretations herein: (1) APPLICANT. A natural person who files a written application with the governing body of any county or municipality in accordance with the provisions of Section 11-97-3 hereof. (2) AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION. A resolution of ordinance adopted by the governing body of any county or municipality in accordance with the provisions of Section 11-97-3 hereof, that authorizes the incorporation of a corporation. (3) BOARD. The board of directors of a corporation. (4) BONDS. Bonds, notes, or other obligations representing an obligation to pay money. (5) CORPORATION. Section 29-1-26 Legislative double dipping prohibited. (a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the Legislative Double Dipping Prohibition Act. (b) Any other provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, and except as provided in subsection (c), a member of the Legislature, during his or her term of office, may not be an employee of any other branch of state government, any department, agency, board, or commission of the state, or any public educational institution including, but not limited to, a local board of education, a two-year institution of higher education, or a four-year institution of higher education. Section 40-16-11 Transition rules for Financial Institution Excise Tax Reform Act of 2019. This section provides for transition rules for the implementation of the Financial Institution Excise Tax Reform Act of 2019. (1) Act 2019-284 imposes for the first time a system of prepaid estimated tax payments patterned after the federal system and transitions the Financial Institution Excise Tax from the current post-payment system. To account for this transition, the Department of Revenue shall waive both penalties and interest attributable to underpayments of estimated tax payments occurring within the first two applicable tax years and not attributable to an intentional disregard of the law.
