Under existing law, a defendant sentenced to a split sentence is required to serve the remainder of the original sentence if his or her probation is revoked. This bill would provide that a judge may use his or her discretion in determining the length of sentence a defendant must serve if his or her probation is revoked. This bill would also revise the implementation date for truth-in-sentencing. This bill would also make nonsubstantive, technical revisions to update the existing code language to current style.
