operates a database of residential telephone subscribers who object to receiving telephone
solicitations. The PSC is authorized to charge a fee every two years for inclusion on the
list. A person or entity is prohibited from making a telephone solicitation to any residential
subscriber on the list. In addition, a person or entity making a telephone solicitation to
a residential subscriber is required to identify himself or herself and is prohibited from
circumventing caller identification. The PSC is authorized to assess a civil penalty up to
$2,000 for violations and under certain conditions a person may bring a civil action for damages
up to $2,000. This bill would provide that the Do Not Call Law would also apply to commercial

the sheriff to charge a fee for fingerprinting certain persons; providing for the distribution
of the fees; and providing retroactive effect. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. The Sheriff of Cherokee County may charge a fee up to fifty dollars ($50) for fingerprinting
persons for passport identification, employment purposes, or other personal reasons; however,
a fee may not be charged if the fingerprinting is performed for law enforcement purposes.
The fee provided by this act shall not apply to a person applying for a pistol permit. Section
2. The fees collected shall be paid over to the Sheriff's Law Enforcement Fund in Cherokee
County to be used for law enforcement purposes available upon requisition of the sheriff.
