SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, the Board of Nursing is responsible for the regulation of the
practice of nursing in the state. This bill would authorize the board, by rule, to establish
standards for student nurse apprenticeships and to issue student nurse apprentice permits
to eligible students. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Section 34-12-2, Code of Alabama
1975, as amended by Act 2019-102, 2019 Regular Session, relating to the duties of the Board
of Nursing; to authorize the board, by rule, to establish standards for student nurse apprenticeships;
and to authorize the board to issue student nurse apprentice permits to eligible students.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:Section 1. Section 34-12-2 of the Code of Alabama
1975, as amended by Act 2019-102, 2019 Regular Session, is amended to read as follows: §34-21-2.
