for an additional court cost in all domestic violence cases in the circuit, district, and
municipal courts; providing for the distribution of the proceeds to the county commission
to be distributed to Crisis Services of Jackson County to be used to provide services to victims
of domestic violence in Jackson County; to repeal Section 45-36-80.03 and to provide for the
distribution of any undistributed court costs collected pursuant to that Section. BE IT ENACTED
BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section 1. (a) In addition to all other costs and charges in
circuit, district, and municipal court cases in Jackson County, there shall be levied and
assessed by the clerk of the court a court cost of thirty-five dollars ($35) in the following
domestic violence cases: (1) Any case in which the defendant is assessed court costs for any

is payable until the covered spouse begins to receive benefits unless the parties agree to
a lump sum settlement. This bill would eliminate the requirement that the parties have been

Rd 1 07-MAR-17 SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, the maximum rate of interest on a small loan
is three percent a month on amounts not more than $200 and two percent a month for amounts
in excess of $200, and the maximum term of the small loan is limited to 25 months. Under existing
law, in lieu of these interest rates, the lender may utilize an alternative rate of charge
that consists of an acquisition fee of up to 10 percent of the principal and a monthly installment
handling fee. Under existing law, the maximum term of a small loan on which the alternative
rate of charge may be utilized is 12 months. This bill would provide that the minimum term
for a small loan in which the lender is charging the alternative rate is six months. This
bill would prohibit the lender from collecting an additional acquisition charge if the loan

the state Medicaid Agency may place a lien on the property of a recipient or file a claim
against the estate of a deceased recipient. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section
1. (a) For purposes of this act, Medicaid Agency shall mean the Medicaid Agency of the State
of Alabama. (b) In accordance with applicable federal law and regulations, including Title
XIX of the federal Social Security Act, the Medicaid Agency may file real property liens against
the property of a Medicaid recipient. (c) The lien shall include the name of the recipient
