and Medical Licensure Commission until October 1, 2021. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF
ALABAMA: Section 1. Pursuant to the Alabama Sunset Law, the Sunset Committee recommends the
continuance of the State Board of Medical Examiners and Medical Licensure Commission until
October 1, 2021. Section 2. The existence and functioning of the State Board of Medical Examiners
and Medical Licensure Commission, created and functioning pursuant to Sections 34-24-50 to
34-24-75.1, inclusive, and 34-24-290 to 34-24-508, inclusive, respectively, Code of Alabama
1975, are continued until October 1, 2021, and those code sections are expressly preserved.
Section 3. The Legislature concurs in the recommendations of the Sunset Committee as provided

qualifications necessary to register as a lay midwife. This bill would provide criminal penalties
