1 01-MAR-16 SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, volunteer fire departments are certified by the
Alabama Forestry Commission based on minimum requirements specified by law. This bill would
further specify the minimum requirements for certification of volunteer fire departments and
authorizing decertification of departments. The bill would also authorize the Forestry Commission
to adopt rules providing procedures for certification of volunteer fire departments and for
the decertification of departments which do not continue to meet the minimum requirements
