Rd 1 14-MAY-15 SYNOPSIS: Existing law provides specific amounts for expense allowances for
city council members in Class 1 municipalities or municipalities having a population of 250,000
or more. This bill would remove the specific amounts and would allow the city council to set
the amount of the expense allowances. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Sections 11-43-7.1
and 11-43-7.2 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to expense allowances of city council
members in Class 1 municipalities and municipalities having a population of 250,000 or more;
to remove the specific amounts for expense allowances; and to allow the city council to set
the amount of the expense allowances. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:Section
1. Sections 11-43-7.1 and 11-43-7.2 of the Code of Alabama 1975, are amended to read as follows:

indictment, may superintend and direct the prosecution of any criminal case in any of the
courts of this state, with or without the assistance of the district attorney. Also under
existing law, the State Bureau of Investigations of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency provides
investigative services in support of other members of the criminal justice system in Alabama.
This bill would require the State Bureau of Investigations to investigate and the Attorney
General to prosecute criminal offenses committed by a county or municipal law enforcement
