are required to complete 20 hours of continuing education annually, and other law enforcement
officers are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education annually, except officers
employed by a sheriff's department are only required to complete annual continuing education
if the county commission requires the training. This bill would require a newly appointed
chief of police of a municipality to complete an additional training course for newly appointed
chiefs of police. This bill would also require law enforcement officers employed by a sheriff's
department to complete 12 hours of continuing education annually, without regard to the county

of each county in which the bail bondsman desires to operate. This bill would create the Alabama
Bail Bond Regulatory Act to require professional bondsmen and recovery agents to register
with the Alabama Professional Bail Bonding Board, created under the act. This bill would provide
for the membership and duties of the board, would provide procedures for licensure applications,
would specify qualifications for licensure, and would provide criminal penalties for making
false statements to the board. This bill would also provide for the suspension and revocation
