SYNOPSIS: This bill would allow an inmate assigned to a work release or community correction
center who has paid employment to obtain an Inmate In Paid Employment Driver's License. A
BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT Relating to work release and community correction centers; to authorize
certain inmates who have paid employment to obtain an Inmate In Paid Employment Driver's License
under certain conditions; and to provide a fee. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
Section 1. (a) An inmate assigned to a work release or community correction center who has
paid employment in the community may apply for and, upon approval, receive an Inmate In Paid
Employment Driver's License. The license shall only authorize an inmate to drive to and from
the paid employment and during the course of the paid employment. The license shall be issued
