Under existing law, a violation of this rule is a Class C misdemeanor. The punishment for a Class C misdemeanor includes a fine that may not exceed $500. This bill would make a violation of the department's rule prohibiting the illegal transportation and release of live feral swine a Class B misdemeanor with a mandatory minimum fine of not less than $2,500.
