Under existing law, a driver of a motor vehicle overtaking a bicycle proceeding in the same
direction is required to pass at a safe distance and maintain the clearance until safely past
the bicycle. This bill would provide a definition for safe distance for purposes of a vehicle
overtaking and passing a bicycle. A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To amend Section 32-5A-82,
Code of Alabama 1975, to provide a definition for safe distance for purposes of a vehicle
overtaking and passing a bicycle. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:Section 1. Section
