ENROLLED, An Act,

Relating to the Alabama Sunset Law; to continue the existence and functioning of the Alabama Security Regulatory Board until October 1, 2019, with certain modifications; to amend Section 34-27C-9, Code of Alabama 1975, so as to clarify the authority of the board to establish fees relating to the licensure of certified trainers.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. Pursuant to the Alabama Sunset Law, the Sunset Committee recommends the continuance of the Alabama Security Regulatory Board until October 1, 2019, with the additional recommendation for statutory change as set out in Section 3.

Section 2. The existence and functioning of the Alabama Security Regulatory Board, created and functioning pursuant to Sections 34-27C-1 to 34-27C-18, inclusive, Code of Alabama 1975, is continued until October 1, 2019, and those code sections are expressly preserved.Section 3. Section 34-27C-9 of the Code of Alabama 1975, is amended to read as follows:

ยง34-27C-9.

"Any person conducting training of security officers shall be licensed as a certified as a trainer by the board. Any person seeking certification licensure as a certified trainer shall pay all fees required by the board and meet all of the following qualifications:

"(1) Be 21 years of age or older.

"(2) Have a minimum of two years of supervisory experience with a contract security company, a proprietary company, or in federal, state, county, or municipal law enforcement.

"(3) Have a minimum of one year of experience in teaching security-related courses or have attended a board approved two-week instructor's course.

"(4) Submit proof of compliance with all instruction and training requirements established by the board."

Section 4. The Legislature concurs in the recommendations of the Sunset Committee as provided in Sections 1, 2, and 3.

Section 5. This act shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
