ENROLLED, An Act,

Relating to Lauderdale County; to amend Sections 1 and 2 of Act 33, 1931 Regular Session (Local Acts 1931, p. 7), to provide for the election of the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education by the qualified electors of the county residing outside of the corporate limits of the City of Florence.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. Sections 1 and 2 of Act 33, 1931 Session (Local Acts 1931, p. 7), are amended to read as follows:

"Section 1.

"That a (a) Commencing with the next election of the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education for Lauderdale County, Alabama, occurring after January 1, 2021, the superintendent shall be elected by the qualified electors of Lauderdale County, Alabama, who reside outside of the corporate limits of the City of Florence, and shall hold office for four years and until his or her successor is elected and qualified as hereinafter provided.

"(b) The appropriate election officials shall conduct elections of the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education in conformity with this act.

"Section 2.

"That at At the next general election to be held in 1932 in said Lauderdale County and State a wherein the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education for Lauderdale County, Alabama, shall be elected, who he or she shall assume the duties of his office on the first Monday in January, 1933, immediately following the election and shall hold office for a term of four years and until his or her successor is elected and qualified, unless sooner removed for good cause, and each four years thereafter, a the Lauderdale County Superintendent of Education for Lauderdale County, Alabama, shall be elected by the qualified electors of said County the county residing outside of the corporate limits of the City of Florence, at the regular election, and nomination for this office may be made in primary elections as other County Officers county officers."

Section 2. This act shall become effective January 1, 2021, following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
