ENROLLED, An Act,

Relating to driver's licenses and similar licenses or cards issued by the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency; to authorize a person who applies for a driver's license or similar license or card or the renewal of a license or card to provide documentation of deafness to the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. (a) January 1 following the effective date of this act, each person who applies for a new driver's license, nondriver identification card, or vessel license, or a learner's license or permit, or the renewal of any of the above licenses, cards, or permits, may provide the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency with documentation of deafness. The information provided in this section shall be stored in the records of the agency and made available to law enforcement personnel for use in their official duties.

(b) The Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency may adopt rules necessary to carry out this act.

Section 2. This act shall become effective immediately following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
