SYNOPSIS: Under existing law, no provision of law expressly provides comprehensive standards for abortion clinics licensed by the Alabama Department of Public Health operating in close proximity to public schools.

A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT

This bill would provide that the Alabama Department of Public Health may not issue or renew a health center license to an abortion clinic or reproductive health center that is located within 2,000 feet of the property or campus of a public school.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. The Alabama Department of Public Health may not issue or renew a health center license to an abortion clinic or reproductive health center that is located within 2,000 feet of the property or campus of a public school.

Section 2. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
