A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT

Relating to Lee County; establishing the Lee County Legislative Delegation Office; and to provide that the proceeds of the levy shall be utilized for the establishment and operation of the legislative delegation office.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:

Section 1. This act shall apply only in Lee County.

Section 2. There is established the Lee County Legislative Delegation Office to be operated on a full-time or part-time basis as the Lee County delegation to the Legislature may deem feasible and appropriate. The staff shall be hired by and serve at the pleasure of the resident senior Senate member of the Lee County Legislative Delegation. The salary shall be set by the resident senior Senate member at a rate of not more than the salary payable to the Chief Probate Clerk of Lee County. The salary and benefits, including expenses and per diem, shall be paid by the Lee County Commission as the salary and benefits, including expenses and per diem, of other county employees are paid.

Section 3. The Lee County Commission shall provide the necessary office space, phone, supplies, furniture, other equipment and salary for the delegation office.

Section 4. This act shall become effective on the first day of the third month following its passage and approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
